Description
11/19/24 - This is a good example of a Grosser Pattern German Imperial Period Artillery Sword. This sword features an etched blade, however the etching has lightened overtime from wear. The blade has no signs of being sharpened, but does have light pitting marks throughout. The handle on this sword still retains it's ray skin leather and wire wrap, but this handle does show signs of wear. The lions head pommel still retains it's red glass eyes, which is uncommon for these swords. These eyes were often removed from these swords by individuals believing that they were rubies. The scabbard on this sword has signs of surface oxidation as well as light pitting throughout, however none of which is effecting the stability and use of the scabbard.
