Description
9/20/24 - This is a nice example of a mismatched K98 bayonet issued to the German military during WW2. The blade is in great condition, retaining a majority of its blued finish. The majority of the finish loss is on the tip of the blade. The edge of the blade does not have signs of sharpening. The sides of the blade also show rub/ use wear that has result in some thinning/finish loss as well. There is minor oxidation on the blade toward the tip. The blade is marked with a "Coppel G.m.b.H." maker mark, serial "2028", and 1939 date "39" on the spine. The "9" in "39" on the spine is faded and hard to see without magnification. The handle and pommel of the bayonet are properly proof marked but show heavier oxidation throughout. The release button is functional. The flat metal part of the grip the faces up when mounted on a K98 does have several small impact marks. The metal scabbard and leather frog are in nice condition. The metal has oxidation throughout and the leather has use wear throughout. The stitching appears original and is intact. The sheath is marked with serial "1162". Overall the bayonet is in very good condition.Specifications
