Description

10/9/24 - This is a great example of a rare Sheffield Knuckle Trench/Fighting knife. We believe this knife to be a WW2 production knife as these knives were made for both WW1 and WW2. The Sheffield Knuckle knife is easily spotted due to its characteristic reverse blade and thin profile. These knives are documented as being used by U.S. forces in WW2 in Mike Silvey's book, 'Knives of the United States Military - World War II', on page 142. This knife is in overall great condition. The blade on this knife maintains almost all of its original nickel finish with only a few small areas of finish loss, the largest of which being on the right side of the blade. The blade shows no signs of being sharpened and the tip remains intact. The grip panels remain intact and the checkering on them remains strong. The leather sheath is in great condition as well with the leather remaining pliable and with no stitching loss. The leather does have some abrasion marks, but these are small and do not effect the sheath's function.
