Description

10/11/21 - This is a minty example of a rare Reichsrevolver Model 1879 sold in the commercial market. Although the design was dated, the weapon was extremely robust, and they were still used through World War I. The M1879 is referred to as the "cavalry model". It is a single-action, solid frame, non-ejecting six-shot revolver. The caliber was an indigenous 10.6?ó25mmR with a medium-length cartridge case, comparable to the contemporary .44 Russian round in size and power. Loading was via a gate on the revolver's right side, and the cylinder was released by pulling the hammer to half-cock. A unique feature among these revolvers was the safety lever, which was often applied with the hammer resting in the half-cock position. This one is all matching and has retained about 97% of its finish. There is very minor wear on some of the high edges (most noticeable on the cylinder), minor wear around the muzzle, and a light roll mark on the cylinder. There are some tiny dots of oxidation, very minor pin-pricking, and a few light scratches/handling marks here and there. Original lanyard ring intact. Excellent wood grips. The bore is excellent with strong rifling and a few very small areas of minor pitting toward the muzzle end.
