Description
11/15/24 - This is an excellent example of a named Purple Heart Medal with documentation. This medal is from 1978 but was awarded to a veteran for his actions in WW2. This award was given to Anthony Karachin, who served with the U.S. Army in WW2. The documents with this medal indicate that on top of the Purple Heart, Anthony was also awarded the Marksman Badge with Rifle bar, the WW2 Honorable Service button and the European - African - Middle Eastern Campaign medal with one Silver and one Bronze campaign star, as well as an arrow head device. These devices indicate that Anthony took part in 6 campaigns during the war and took part in either an amphibious or parachute landing/invasion, such as D-Day or the invasion of Italy or Africa. The medal itself has some spotty patina, but overall is in excellent condition. This medal additionally comes in it's original presentation case, the ribbon bar however, is no longer in the case, and only the medal is inside.Specifications
