Description
12/10/24 - This is a beautiful example of a rare Damascus 1935 Shooting prize sword made by Carl Eickhorn. The blade on this sword is overall in very great condition, the Damascus pattern is still very visible and the blue and gold embellishment is still strong and present. Often these blue & gold embellishments fade and wear away with age. The blade does have some darkening patina from age, the edge has no signs of sharpening. This blade was inscribed with "Ehrenpries fur Hervorragende Shiessleistungen 1935 Hauptmann Hartmann D.R. 61". Which translates to "Honorary award for outstanding shooting achievements 1935 Captain Hartmann D.R. 61". Capt. Hartmann was a member in the Dragoons of the German Army as indicated by the D.R. 61. The handle on this sword in in great condition and has no cracks or chips in the wood. The wood however appears to have shrunk with age as the wire wrap is pulling away from the handle. However, the wire wrap is still complete and present. This blade also comes with an officers sword portepee.Specifications
