Description
1/3/23 - This is a nice example of a Sharps Model 1859 Saddle Ring Carbine. There were approximately 45,000 of this model made during the 1860-1863 period. This features a later version of the Sharps action with an improved gas seal and vertical breech. Converted to .50-70 Govt. The barrel appears to have been shortened to 19". The barrel is blued and the receiver is case-hardened. Most of the bluing is intact along the barrel, but the finish is worn on the receiver and on the barrel band. Spotty brown patina in the same areas. There is no major damage to the wood, but there are obvious signs of heavy use - dings, scratches, and bruises throughout. There is a small cartouche on the left side of the butt stock. Original saddle ring is intact. The bore is mint. Fully functional.Specifications
