Description

12/9/21 - This is a nice example of a Japanese Type 26 revolver. The Type 26 or Model 26 "hammerless" revolver was the first modern revolver adopted by the Imperial Japanese Army. It was developed at the Koishikawa Arsenal and is named for its year of adoption in the Japanese dating system (the 26th year of the reign of the Meiji emperor, i.e., 1893). The revolver saw action in conflicts including the Russo-Japanese War, World War I and World War II. This particular gun has been arsenal refurbished - it was refinished, and the grips were replaced. In any case, it has retained about 98% of its new bluing. There is just minor wear around the muzzle. While there is little finish loss, there is oxidation at the butt of the frame and areas of minor pitting on the barrel and butt of the frame. The bore is excellent - shiny with strong rifling.
