SOLD - 1915 Mauser Gewehr 98 - War Bond Gun

1/24/22 - This is a nice example of a Mauser Gewehr 98 rifle issued to the Imperial German military in 1915. The gun is mostly matching (including the butt plate and wood stock), but the bolt is mismatched. No import marks. This is a "Bond Gun" example. These guns were handed out in the civilian market following WW1 to those who contributed to the war effort by purchasing war bonds. For all of these rifles, the barrels have a plug in the muzzle end. Overall, the gun is in nice condition, but there is noticeable spotty brown patina on all of the metal parts. There is also a series of small dings on the front barrel band. The stock is in decent condition, but there are noticeable dents, bruises, and scratches throughout. The barrel is plugged, so we could not get a bore rating.
