Description
2/28/22 - This is a very nice example of a Springfield Krag Model 1898 issued to the US military in 1901. The right side of the stock is dated 1901 and has the proper military inspection stamp. The wrist has the proper "P" proof. The gun also comes with a period-correct 1903-dated bayonet with an original scabbard - a couple of noticeable dents on the scabbard. The original wire cartridge belt loop is still intact on the scabbard. Overall, the gun is in very nice condition. The majority of the finish loss is on the whole receiver, where there is almost no finish left. There is also streaky wear on the front portion of the barrel and wear on the barrel bands and trigger guard. There is noticeable spotty oxidation on virtually all of the metal parts, least noticeable on the barrel. The stock is nice with minor dings and bruises throughout. There is a small arrow carved into the right side and the name "ROE" scratched into the left side. The bore has good rifling, but there are tiny pits throughout.Specifications
