Description
12/7/23 - This is a nice example of a Springfield Krag Model 1898 issued to the US military in 1902. The left side of the stock is dated 1902 and has the proper military inspection stamp. The wrist has the proper "P" proof. The gun also comes with a period-correct 1903-dated bayonet with an original scabbard. The original wire cartridge belt loop is still intact on the scabbard. Overall, the gun isn't bad for its age. There is some thinning on and around the receiver area. But the most obvious sign of wear is dark brown patina and some spotty oxidation throughout. The original fire-bluing is still visible on the top of the bolt. Excellent stock with below-average wear. The bore has decent rifling, but there is tiny pitting throughout.Specifications
