Description
10/25/18 - This is an original Eddystone Model 1917. This rifle is a great example of what was called the ÄúAmerican EnfieldÄù in WWI. The wood is in great condition with minor surface scratches, scuffs and dents (all normal wear and aging). The metal parts are in 75%+ condition with few light scratches. Overall the metal has a nice patina. The finish is thinning on the barrel. The action is smooth and the bore is in excellent condition. The barrel is marked ÄúJ.AÄù with a flaming bomb underneath. The receiver and bolt are also both marked with flaming bombs, and there is a ÄúTÄù proof stamp on the bolt. The wood is marked ÄúPÄù behind the trigger guard and there is also an indistinguishable mark directly behind the trigger guard (might be "SG"). The left side of the wood has a maker / inspector stamp. American arms companies were contracted by the British government in WWI to produce the Model of 1917. This particular gun was produced by Eddystone in 1918. No import stamps.Specifications
