Description

3/31/22 - This is a very nice example of a "BYF 42" Mauser K98 issued to the Nazi military in 1942. The gun is mostly matching except for the rear sight. The front sight is un-numbered. The butt plate is labeled "gqm 43". All of the metal parts have been completely refinished. There is minor thinning and brown patina on the floor plate. Heavy spotty oxidation on the butt plate. Slight rainbow-colored coloration on the barrel bands. Some splotchy discoloration along the barrel. There are faint waffen proofs on the wrist, underside of the butt stock and right side of the butt stock. The handguard and stock are numbered internally and are mismatched. The stock is nice with minor dings and scratches here and there. The bore has decent rifling with minor pitting in the grooves.
