Description
9/19/25 - This is a very nice example of a Colt Model 1911A1 manufactured in 1943. It is all-correct, has the proper "United States Property" marking, and the proper US military cross-canon cartouche. This one, however, has British proofs throughout, indicating it was part of the WW2 British Lend-Lease Program. This particular gun comes as a rig with one magazine and a matching set with a holster and magazine pouch. The holster is marked "T.J. Pepper". We were able to find a TJ Pepper in the British military records. Since all we have is the marking, we can't say for sure this is the same man. But in the photos, you'll find the record of a British officer Thomas Joseph Peppers who was in the Northamptonshire Regiment. The Northamptonshire Regiment was a line infantry regiment of the British Army in existence from 1881 until 1960. In 1960, it was amalgamated with the Royal Lincolnshire Regiment to form the 2nd East Anglian Regiment (Duchess of Gloucester's Own Royal Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire), which was amalgamated with the 1st East Anglian Regiment (Royal Norfolk and Suffolk), the 3rd East Anglian Regiment (16th/44th Foot) and the Royal Leicestershire Regiment to form the present Royal Anglian Regiment. The gun itself has retained about 94% of its original parkerized finish. The majority of the wear is around the muzzle. It is fitted with correct reddish plastic grips. Excellent bore.
