Description
3/28/22 - This is an interesting gun with some history. It started out as a Military issued M1917, but after the war it was sent back to the factory to be converted to commercial sales. The factory removed the military markings including "Property of US Army", however you can still see the GHS inspector stamps on the left, top of frame. The hammer is the original early serrated type military as well. When you open the cylinder you see the star with indicates it was reworked by the factory. Same star is found under the barrel as well as under the left grip with the date 5/72, indicating the time S&W re-worked it. The grips were replaced, and the U.S. PROPERTY M1917 marking was removed from the bottom of the frame and re-numbered using the original number in the commercial style. Bore is excellent. The markings are clear and sharp as well with a nice action. Basically an interesting example of a re-worked military to commercial sales . 45 caliber S&W revolver.Specifications
