Description

10/7/22 - This is a nice example of a Spandau Gewehr 98 rifle issued to the Imperial German military in 1916. The gun has the proper Imperial military proofs throughout and is entirely matching (including the stock), except for the bolt. No import marks. The majority of the finish loss is on the receiver and underside of the trigger guard. There is not much other finish on the gun, but there is noticeable brown patina covering most of the metal parts. Spotty oxidation on the butt plate. The stock is numbered (matching) and Imperial-proofed. Overall, it is in nice condition with no major damage, just minor dings and bruises throughout. A dark stain in the wood just behind the rear sight. Excellent bore with great rifling.
