Description
11/7/22 - This is a nice example of a very hard to find Walther P.38, with '40' added under the ac proof on left side slide. There were only 5,700 of this variation produced, made in November of 1940 with the '40' added after the gun was blued. This pistol is in the proper range for this variation, is all matching, and has the proper "Eagle 359" military acceptance proofs throughout, even on the small parts. It appears there was a marking on the left side of the frame that has been peened - likely a post-war police marking. The gun has retained roughly 80% of its original high polish finish with spotty, scratchy wear along both sides of the slide and along the barrel. Some thinning and dulling of the finish on the front strap. The gun comes with nice Walther grips that are "Eagle 359" proofed but not numbered. The magazine is numbered and not matching, but it is in the correct "a" serial block. The bore has decent rifling, but there is pin-pricking throughout. De-cocker is functional.Specifications
