Description

11/8/22 - This is a rare Simson Luger with a "3/R.R.4.85." Weimar-era military regimental marking on the front strap. There were only 12,000 total Simson Lugers produced in the 1920s and 1930s, with only a small fraction of those receiving regimental unit markings. This one is all matching and has the proper "Eagle 6" Simson proofs throughout. There is a "Russian Capture X" on the left side of the slide. This is interesting, because the gun appears to have its original finish. In any case, the gun has retained roughly 75% of its bluing. There are areas of noticeable spotty wear on the grip straps, along the barrel, and on the top of the receiver. Wear around the muzzle, on the side plate, and on the high edges in general. There are tiny dings and scratches throughout. Light spotty oxidation on the grip straps. Comes with un-numbered wood grips and an original but mismatched Simson magazine. The rifling in the bore is a bit worn with pin-pricking throughout and a few tiny pits here and there.
