Description
11/18/22 - This is a nice example of an Erfurt Kar 98 issued to the Imperial German Army in 1917. The gun has Imperial proofs throughout and is mostly matching, but the floor plate, follower, and bolt are mismatched. The stock has a matching number and Imperial proofs. However, the stock has been lightly sanded, so the markings are a little hard to read. There are "1920" government property markings on the receiver and on the left side of the butt stock, indicating this gun remained in government service after WW1. The gun is in nice condition overall but has only retained about 25% of its original finish. There is obvious finish loss on the barrel bands, floor plate / trigger group, and butt plate. Minor thinning and brown patina on the receiver. The stock is very nice - no major damage with only a few bruises here and there. The bore has decent rifling with very minor pitting throughout.Specifications
