Description
4/25/23 - This is a nice example of a Spreewerk P.38 issued to the Nazi military in November of 1943. It is all matching and has the proper "Eagle 88" military acceptance proofs throughout. This particular gun was brought back by Harry Waugh of West Virginia. It comes with the framed original capture document that names Harry and lists this gun by serial number. Also included with this gun are photocopies of official US War Department documents, acquired by Harry's grandson years later. There is a copy of his grandson's request for information, Harry's enlistment papers, Honor Discharge certificate, and death certificate. Harry passed away on April 7th, 1979. Harry was wounded in battle in Germany on October 26th, 1944. Included is a copy of the original casualty telegram, a letter written by Harry's wife asking for more information on the nature of his wounds sustained in battle and his whereabouts, and a response letter from the US War Department. This is just a really cool dossier of information about the solider who brought this gun home and a glimpse into his service during WW2. The gun itself has retained roughly 85% of its original finish, showing honest signs of use and battle wear. The majority of the wear is on the front strap, but there is also thinning along the barrel, wear around the muzzle and high edges of the slide, and some light scratches here and there on both sides of the slide. Fitted with excellent reddish particle grips and comes with a period-correct jvd magazine. The bore is very nice - mostly shiny with good rifling and just some very minor frosting here and there. De-cocker is functional.Specifications
