SOLD - Straight-Line AC43 P.38: Veteran Bring Back

6/20/24 - This is a WW2 Veteran Bring Back grouping from the family of Captain Joseph C. Remer. The grouping includes an all-matching Walther P.38 with hard-shell style holster, US Service Tunic, Flag, and documents covering the veteran's time in service. The pistol is in great condition, all original and fully functional with functional de-cocking mechanism. The finish rates around 95%+, with beautiful side profiles and most of the finish loss being on the front strap. No rust or pitting and clean reddish-brown grips. The magazine is properly eagle 359 proof stamped as well. The holster is in great shape with all original leather and stitching. Maker stamped, dated, and waffen proofed on the back leather (bdr 42). The tunic is size 34 regular, with the initials "JCR" handwritten on the tag. The ribbons and patches are all original, with the only notable flaw being the bottom button, which has been replaced (as shown). The documents cover everything from induction and enlistment, antiaircraft artillery school assignment, special orders granting days of leave, pay stubs, rank promotion (from 1st Lieutenant to 2nd, and from 2nd Lieutenant to Captain), staff school assignment, Officer's reserve corps., and some documents regarding his military involvement post-WW2 (through the 1950's). There's also a few photos with Captain Remer, and his certificate of authenticity from the Normandy Historical Society. Captain Remer served 4.5 years in Europe during WW2, and received the Bronze Star, European Battle Ribbon with 5 combat stars, the American Defense medal, and the New York State Conspicuous Service Award. Note that none of the documents actually link the pistol to the veteran. There are no capture documents, however this grouping was sold together by the family of the vet, and have been kept together since.
