Description

2/9/24 - This is a minty Colt 1911A1, shipped to the Springfield Armory on August 24th, 1944. This pistol is 100% correct and original throughout. Has "GHD" inspection mark of Guy H. Drewry. Has a wide spur type hammer, stamped trigger, and grooved mainspring housing - All correct for this serial number range, somewhat of a transitional period having the wide spur hammer. The frame has the correct “P” proof mark by the magazine release and on the top of the slide. The crossed cannon ordinance wheel stamp is intact on the RH side and was correctly stamped after parkerizing. The original blued Colt barrel is correctly stamped "Colt 45 Auto" under the chamber as well as the “P” proof mark. The barrel also has the correct large “7” stamp in front of the locking lug. The gun has retained about 98% of its parkerized finish, with most wear concentrated to one small area on the front strap. Some very light muzzle wear, and a bit of finish loss along the high edges of the front and underside of the slide, along with some miscellaneous handling marks here and there. Bore is shiny with strong rifling, but there is a bit of frost. Minty, correct Colt grips with sharp checkering and no chips or cracks. Includes one correct M.S. Little magazine, correctly marked "C-L" in the toe.
