Description

3/21/24 - The 1906 Dutch model was made specifically for military contract sales to the Netherlands. The Dutch had finally decided to adopt the Luger pistol. As is common with Lugers, the 1906 is in reference to the 1906 pattern. The Dutch referred to the Luger as the M11. These were actually delivered in 4 groups: 1,391 in early 1912, 750 in late summer 1912, 1,290 in late 1913 and 750 in early summer 1914. All of these were sent to the Dutch East Indies. Virtually all of these guns were arsenal reworked and are often in very rough condition. Many have replaced barrels that are dated - this one has a 1919-dated replacement barrel. Most have a brass plate brazed to the frame that is unit marked for the Dutch East Indies. This one has one on the left side of the frame that is marked "Mgd. Tmi. 436". It is all matching, "Crown W" Dutch Royal proofed, and has the proper "RUST" safety marking. The finish rates about 93%. General high edge and muzzle wear, brown patina and pin-pricking on the grip straps, and some areas of pitting here and there. Fitted with matching-numbered wood grips - repaired crack on the right side. Comes with a blank wood-bottom magazine. The condition of the bore is poor - the rifling is worn with pitting throughout.
