Rare DWM Luger Rig - Finnish Prison Guard

4/9/24 - This is one of approximately 8,000 Lugers sold on contract with Finland in the 1920s. Due to the Treaty of Versailles, DWM was not allowed to produce guns chambered in military calibers (9mm), so these were delivered in 7.65mm. Most of these were used by the Finnish Army, although this example does not have the typical "SA" marking, indicating it likely went a different path. The chamber is marked "VANKEINHOITOLAITOS" (correctional institution) over a 5-pointed star flanked by crescents and set on a radiant burst, indicating it was issued to a Finnish prison guard. It is all matching, "Crown N" proofed, and chambered in .30 Luger. "Made in Germany" marking on the front strap. The finish rates roughly 85% with most of the wear on the front strap. Fitted with un-numbered wood grips and comes with a blank magazine. Good bore. Comes as a rig with a period-correct holster.
