Description
10/10/24 - This is a very nice example of a rare third-variation "Zero Series" Walther P.38 issued to the Nazi military in 1940. The third variation incorporates many of the final P.38 features. It has the round firing pin, thin slide, thick rear sight, and exposed double-cut extractor. The checkered commercial-style grip panels begin to be replaced ribbed bakelite grips. Magazines are serialized along the lower edge of the body, with two E/359 stamps on the back spine. Production of this variation is estimated to be 10,200. This one is all matching and has the proper "Eagle 359" military acceptance proofs throughout, even on the small parts. The rear sight is properly painted red. The grips are waffen-proofed and matching-numbered. It has retained about 90-92% of its original high polish finish. There is general high edge wear, muzzle wear, some light scratching on the right side of the slide, an area of pin-pricking at the left front of the slide, and some minor dulling on the front strap. Comes with a numbered but mismatched Zero Series magazine. Very nice bore. De-cocker is functional.Specifications
