Description
11/22/24 - This is a nice example of a rare third-variation "Zero Series" Walther P.38 issued to the Nazi military in 1940. The third variation incorporates many of the final P.38 features. It has the round firing pin, thin slide, thick rear sight, and exposed double-cut extractor. Production of this variation is estimated to be 10,200. This one is all matching and has the proper "Eagle 359" military acceptance proof. Oddly enough, the right side of the slide only has two proofs when it should have three. The finish looks original, so we can't explain it. Fitted with later reddish bakelite Walther grips - not waffen proofed or numbered. It comes a mismatched but numbered magazine. The gun's finish rates roughly 80%. There is significant finish loss on the front strap with general high edge and muzzle wear. Some small pits here and there. The rifling in the bore is fairly worn with tiny pitting throughout. De-cocker is functional.Specifications
