Description
1/2/25 - This is a nice example of a very rare, transitional 1937 Luger with mixed proofs on the receiver. Part of the way through 1937, we start seeing transitional guns with both "Stick Wing Eagle 63" and "Droop Wing Eagle 63". However, according to Don Hallock's "The Mauser Parabellum" book (Pg 141), "During late 1937, a few receivers will be found with the SE-83 SE-63 acceptance marks. These acceptance marks were very rare in 1937 but very common in 1938". This one is all matching and has the aforementioned "Stick Eagle 63" and "Stick Eagle 83" acceptance proofs. This example is even more rare because it comes with one original matching-numbered magazine (with a SE-63 acceptance mark). The gun itself has retained about 90-92% of its original finish. There is general high edge wear, muzzle wear, and some minor thinning on the grip straps. A few small spots of very light freckling here and there. The bore has pretty good rifling, but there is tiny pitting throughout.Specifications
