Description

1/16/25 - This is a very nice example of a US Army S&W Model 1917 revolver from WWI. It is "United States Property" marked and has the proper military acceptance proofs. It comes as a complete rig with a 1917-dated leather holster with leather lanyard (the belt loop of the holster is dried and cracked), a canvas belt, canvas ammo pouches, and a 1917-dated first aid pouch with an original un-opened first aid kit. The belt, ammo pouches, and first aid kit pouch are all hand-labeled with the veteran's name "Lt. E. Shorrock 306 F.A.". The gun has retained somewhere between 85-90% of its original high polish bluing. Virtually all of the wear is along the left side of the barrel and on the back strap. There is some spotty along the top strap and some minor flaking in the finish on the right side of the frame. The right grip panel is hand-numbered to match the gun. Very nice bore with good rifling.
