Description
1/14/25 - This is a beautiful example of a Colt Model 1911A1 from 1943. This gun comes with a signed letter from the seller about how his father, a WW2 vet, carried this gun as his sidearm. It reads, "My father, Charles G. McCafferey Jr, served in World War II as a bombardier with the Eighth Air Force's 379th Bomb Group. He flew missions aboard a B-17 "Flying Fortress" stationed at RAF Kimbolton in England. This Colt 1911A1 pistol was his issued sidearm, and it flew on some 25 bombing runs over Europe. Upon my father's passing, I inherited this historic firearm from him." Unfortunately, the gun has an incorrect HS barrel. It has retained nearly all of its original parkerized finish with just hints of high edge wear and some very light surface scuffs here and there. Fitted with period-correct reddish plastic grips and comes with an "R" marked magazine. The bore has good rifling, but there is surface freckling throughout.Specifications
