Description
Date Added: 8/3 - This is a double dated (1918/1920) DWM Luger. Has police sear safety and front strap is marked with rare unit mark from Schupo District of Kassel ( See History Written In Steel by Don Maus page 157). Finish is about 96%. It has a period correct magazine but not number to the gun. Excellent bore. It was manufactured by DWM in 1918 and may or may not have been issued to the military before the end of the war. The 1920 property stamp indicates it was transferred to the police soon after the war. It does not indicate the gun was reworked. The S.C.II. marking indicates it was issued to the Schutzpolizei command stationed in Hanau (near Frankfurt am Main) in the administrative district of Cassel (later Kassel). The sear safety indicates it probably remained in police service in Kassel through WWIISpecifications
