Description
4/8/26 - This is a nice example of a Colt Model 1878 revolver, chambered in .45 Colt, and featuring a 7.5" barrel. From the original factory letter (Note: we only have a copy of the original letter for the listing), this gun has a factory-nickel finish and was delivered to Hartley & Graham in New York on April 16, 1885 in a shipment of 90 guns. All matching, with the last 3 digits of the serial number stamped on the cylinder and butt of frame. The loading gate number is properly stamped on the gate itself, and on the left side of the grip frame when the grips are removed. The gun itself has retained roughly 70% of its original nickel finish with scattered spotty wear and spotty oxidation throughout. A couple of the screws are very slightly marred. Fitted with an excellent set of hard rubber Colt grips. The bore is excellent shiny with great rifling. The cylinder is tight, and the action is smooth. Timing is on point. Lanyard loop is in excellent condition and fully functional. Antique, so no licensing is required.
