Description
10/26/26 - This is an antique Smith & Wesson No. 3 top break revolver of the Third Model Russian pattern, chambered in .44 Russian and manufactured between 1874 and 1878. The Russian Model was developed for the Imperial Russian government, which ordered well over 100,000 of them, and its .44 Russian cartridge was considered one of the most accurate revolver rounds of its day. The Third Model is easily recognized by its distinctive humped grip and finger-spur trigger guard. The top of the barrel carries the "SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD MASS. U.S.A." legend with the patent dates and "RUSSIAN MODEL" marking. The original finish rates roughly 30%, with areas of obvious spotty wear, discoloration and minor pitting on much of the gun, along with some spotty oxidation here and there. Fitted with smooth wood grips. The bore is 7/10, mostly shiny with strong rifling, but there are small spots of oxidation. Fully functional.
