SOLD - Beautiful 1902 DWM Luger Carbine

5/30/18 - This must be one of the best preserved Luger carbines in existence - an early gun in 98-99% original condition with just a hint of wear on high edges and a couple of tiny freckles here and there that are too small to show in the photographs. The 1902 Carbine was DWM's solution to a light hunting rifle. Chambered in potent .30 luger cartridge with a detachable shoulder stock, the Luger carbine made for a compact, yet respectable alternative to the standard light sporting rifles of that era. Due to high cost, very few were made - 2500 in all - and some were either presented or purchased by the famous people of the day: Teddy Roosevelt and a President of Mexico included.  This particular gun is all matching, including the shoulder stock that is also in excellent condition with a few small surface dents in the wood and an intact buttplate. Forearm is in excellent shape too with beautiful checkering that matches the pattern of the buttstock checkering. Excellent bore and grips. It appears that this gun spent most of the 116 years of its life in the safe and can't have been shot much at all.  A great historical luger that is considered by many to be at the top of the pyramid of luger collecting.   An original period leather covered hard retailer case can also be made available to the buyer at an additional charge of $4500.
