Description
2/18/22 - This is the Chinese Chiang Kai-shek rifle, which was their copy of the German Standardmodell rifle. Production ran from 1935-49, and this model was one of the main battle rifles for the Chinese National Revolutionary Army. It was a shortened and lightened version of the Gewehr 98, specifically, a copy of the Oberndorf Export Mauser named Standard Modell. 10,000 had been bought by China in 1934 and the Germans provided the tooling to produce the Type 24. This particular rifle appears arsenal refinished, but does have mostly matching numbers throughout with a mismatched bolt. Otherwise appears to have all matching small parts. It has seen extensive use, and the bore shows notable wear to the rifling with corrosion throughout. Stock has a crack around the wrist.Specifications
