Description
8/28/25 - This is a Colt Pocket Navy Model Cartridge Conversion Revolver in .38 Rimfire, made in 1861 in Hartford, Connecticut. There were about 10,000 of these made using existing percussion revolvers or parts and manufacturing new components to accept cartridges. The factory conversion of Colt’s percussion line coincided with the expiration of the S&W owned Rollin White Patent, from which Smith & Wesson benefitted greatly as they dominated the market for cartridge revolvers for over a decade. This one is mostly matching, but the cylinder is mismatched and the barrel wedge is un-numbered. 6.5" barrel. We believe the barrel and frame have been re-numbered. This one is fully functional and in nice condition overall. The cylinder scene has roughly 45% visibility. The finish on the barrel has been removed, and it appears to have been wire-brushed or buffed. Some oxidation and tiny pitting on the cylinder. Fitted with nice wood grips - some minor damage to the bottom edge of the right grip. The bore has good rifling, but there is some surface oxidation and light rust throughout. No FFL required. The barrel wedge fits loose.
