Description
10/19/26 - This is an early Erfurt Luger, manufactured in 1913 and issued to the German Imperial Army for WWI. Erfurt was the Imperial government arsenal, and this one was made before the stock lug and hold-open became standard, which makes these early guns a distinct variation for Luger collectors. It is all matching with the proper Erfurt proofs throughout and military inspection proofs on the right side of the receiver, and the right side of the barrel shows British export proofs. It has the proper early features, such as no stock lug on the rear grip strap, and it originally had no hold-open (one has since been added). The finish rates roughly 75%, with the majority of the finish loss on the grip straps, where there is also spotty patina, plus general high edge wear, muzzle wear, and some spotty wear and discoloration on the left side of the frame and the left side of the barrel. Fitted with matching-numbered and Erfurt-proofed wood grips that show honest bruising and wear on both sides. Comes with a mismatched aluminum-bottom magazine. The bore has good rifling with light pin-pricking in the grooves. An honest early Erfurt with the desirable pre-war features.
