Description
10/7/26 - This is an early Colt Model 1860 Army revolver, manufactured in 1861 and chambered in .44 caliber. This one is the scarce fluted cylinder variation. Only about 4,000 fluted cylinder 1860 Armies were made, all in 1861 and within roughly the first 8,000 serial numbers. Many of these early revolvers were shipped South before the outbreak of the Civil War and issued to Confederate units, and many more were used up or destroyed in the war, so relatively few survive today. It is completely matching down to the barrel wedge. Overall, the gun is in fair condition. The finish is almost entirely worn, with an honest, spotty "attic patina" and spotty oxidation throughout. Fitted with period-correct wood grips that show noticeable honest wear and bruising throughout. There is a "15" rack number on the left side of the grip. The bore is about 4/10 with strong rifling, but there is spotty surface rust throughout. Fully functional. No FFL required.
