11/25/24 - For sale is a nice, early Berthier MLE 16 made by Chatellerault in 1917. In Mid 1917, France began prioritizing the production of carbines and used 1907-15 receivers and assembled them to updated MLE 16 specs. The carbine is in good condition overall but the metal has a layer of patina throughout. There is a spot of surface pitting on the barrel. The receiver has faded grey with wear and patina. The stock is in great condition and free of any cracks or breaks. The carbine has matching serial numbers on the receiver, magazine floor, bolt, and stock. The bore is somewhat bright but there is pitting visible at the muzzle in the grooves. The clearing rod and handguard are absent.
