SOLD - Early S Code Krieghoff Luger (191 - 08679)

Description

11/20/18 - This is a very early S Code (1935/36) Krieghoff Luger. The serial number is 191 making it one of the earliest recorded HKs. It also has the very early and very rare wood grips. These Krieghoff wood grips are recognizable as they are a bit thicker than the DWM or Mauser grips. The gun has the early logo on the toggle and the external serial markings on the toggle and sideplate (correct early features). All numbered parts are matching except for the magazine. Many parts on the early Krieghoff are NOT numbered including the barrel, the hold open, the rear toggle pin and the firing pin. However these parts are typically HK proofed with the correct Eagle L2 proof. Now for the finish: much of the gun appears to be original finish. The back of the frame has the "tell tale" thumb mark. The toggle, receiver and barrel all appear to be original finish. However, the left side rail and the side plate may have been touched up. In addition, the straw color small parts may have been re-strawed. The magazine is period correct but made by Mauser and not matching numbered ( G Date Mauser magazine from 1935). The bore is a bit cloudy with some wear, but still would rate a 6 out of 10. Despite some "enhancements" this is a nice example of an early and rare Krieghoff. Priced accordingly.
