08/10/26 - For sale is an Enfield Pattern 1853 rifle chambered in .577 caliber and made in 1859. The rifle has an aged patina/tarnish on the metal with freckles of oxidation. The barrel had been cleaned/buffed as the surface is smooth, and some of the proof stamps are thin. The stock has been sanded, and there's notable wear. There are cracks around the lock plate and some around the lock plate screws on the left side of the stock. The bore is dark, but rifling is still visible. There is old surface rust around the muzzle, ram rod, and the first barrel band. The trigger is gummy and does not consistently reset, causing the hammer to not lock back properly. The percussion nipple is corroded and has chips missing and needs to be replaced.
