Description
07/17/2024 - For sale is a Type I (as in Italian) Carcano that was produced by Beretta for the Japanese Navy. Prior to WW2, the funds for small arms were diverted to the Imperial Army which left the navy needing to source their own rifles. They would reach out to facist Italy for support. The Type I uses a Carcano action and an Arisaka (Mauser) magazine. The rifle has similar ergonomics to the Type 38 except it is a "cock on open" instead of close. The rifle uses the same Type 30 Bayonet.¬
The rifle is in great condition overall with the only blemish being spots of freckling/oxidation throughout the metal. The metal retains the majority of its original deep bluing and there are no signs of active corrosion / pitting. The bore is fairly bright towards the first half but gets darker. It has great rifling but likely can clean up better. The rifle has a Type 38 cleaning rod installed.¬
