Description
12/18/19 - This is an exceptional example of a Civil War Carbine issued to the US Army on or about 1864. It is designated as a Model 1864 and was a revolutionary design for it's time in that it shot a single cartridge. Most of these went to Cavalry soldiers toward the end of the Civil War. The metal is mostly spotty patina but much better than most from this era. The bore is very good considering the age and rifling is fairly strong. It comes in .54 caliber. The wood is also in very nice condition considering the age. It has the inspector initials FDL on the left side of the stock, just above the saddle ring. Also again seen on the top, rear of the stock. Original butt plate is marked U.S. The action is tight and the serial numbers all match. This is an antique so can be mailed direct to you.Specifications
