Description
7/6/26 - This is a scarce, all-matching "bym43" code K98 bayonet manufactured by Maschinenhaus Ferlach in Austria. This bayonet and scabbard are both serialized "82678", which is stamped just above the matching series number "414" on both pieces. The opposite side of the blade near the handle is stamped "bym" for the maker, and bears a "43" on the spine for the production year. The handle on this bayonet is made of the period-correct brown particle bakelite. Neither grip panel shows any signs of any chips or cracks. The pommel has the proper WaA938 military proofs. The blade itself is in great condition with no signs of any chipping or damage to the blade or cutting edge. The scabbard does have some finish loss and patina, and there are two shallow dents on the back of the scabbard just below the frog. The frog itself shows no signs of any rips or tears, but there is some stitching that has come undone between the belt loop and where the frog holds the scabbard. Additionally, there is about 1" of thread coming undone on the right side of the frog at the bottom.
