Description
7/24/24 - This is a rare WW2 German Army Paratrooper (Fallschirmjager) Badge. The badge is unique due to the custom engraving on the backside of the wreath which reads, "Fallschirm Inf. B11. Leutnant Dietz". This engraving signifies the original owner as Leutnant Dietz, with Leutnant being the lowest officer rank. This officer Dietz was likely wealthy, as the badge not only features a custom engraving, but also has a customized closure pin and hook with locking mechanism. This upgraded hardware is completely non-magnetic and shows natural tarnish and aging patina, without excessive wear or damage (and is fully functional). Further, the backside of the eagle is stamped for silver content, "800". Research finds that soldiers had the option to purchase these higher-quality silver badges between 1937 and 1939. The front of the badge has excellent, intricate detail with a gold finish on the wreath and silvered eagle. There's visible handling wear and high edge wear, but the patina is natural and not excessive. Beautiful details on the eagle's wings and talons, as well as on the acorns and oak leaves. Unmistakably original and a rare Officer's custom example.Specifications
