Description
8/13/24 - This is an original WW2 Japanese Type 90 Combat Helmet issued to the Japanese Special Naval Landing Forces (SNLF). These rare helmets are highly desirable as these were worn by the forces that fought the USMC on Guadalcanal, Palau, Iwo Jima and other Pacific Island conflicts. This is an earlier variation with a steel anchor insignia attached to the front exterior of the helmet. Unfortunately, the insignia is broken and the upper portion is missing, leaving only the lower anchor visible (price is reduced accordingly). The rest of the steel shell exterior has tan painted finish that's in great condition. There's light surface patina and small areas of paint chipping which reveals a mixture of pale blue paint as well as pinkish-red colored paint underneath the tan. We'd rate about 80+% of the original tan paint still intact. The helmet interior shell is fairly clean with a concentration of wear around the brim edge. The leather liner is excellent with all three leather liner pads intact with attached cloth on the interior. The front liner bad has kanji markings, and there's an ink stamp found on the interior linen cloth. The back of the leather liner headband is marked for size "Large" with a pin-pricked style kanji marking. Also comes with an original cloth canvas weave chinstrap, and correct style O-rings. Overall a great condition example of a highly desirable SNLF Helmet.Specifications
