7/18/25 - This is a very nice example of a German M40 helmet. The exterior of the helmet has almost all of its factory paint intact and there is evidence of a German army decal present, but most of it has been chipped off. There is is significant spots of oxidization throughout the crown and dome, including one spot of rust on the front right crown of the helmet. All three split pins are intact as well. The interior of the helmet is is very clean with almost no patina or oxidization on the metal. The steel band and leather liner are intact. The leather liner is missing multiple tongues and two of the tongues in the rear has staple repairs. The chinstrap is partially intact with only the long portion intact and the short strap with the buckle is missing. Made by Quist, size 64, lot #31419.
