Mark 1 US 1918 Trench Knife by LF&C

10/9/24 - This is an original WW1 Mark 1 US Trench Knife by L.F.&C. This example is in great condition with traces of the original finish still present in small areas on the handle, and a great amount of original finish still remaining on the blade. The knife comes with an original metal scabbard as well. The blade rates around 80% condition with light surface patina and thinning to the original finish. The edge has a few small nicks, dings, and shows signs of use, giving the edges an overall "chewed" appearance. No signs of sharpening or misuse; the wear all looks like combat / field use. The flat portion of the hand guard retains most of the finish found on the handle. There's also some traces of red paint on the handle. Our assumption is a previous owner painted the handle red, and that paint has since worn away. The paint could be further removed if desired. The spiked pommel has some spots of paint as well, and also retains some of the original finish. The scabbard shows natural patina throughout and one of the metal prongs has broken off. However the base is still intact, and the other print is in great condition. Maker and date stamped at the top of the scabbard as shown. Overall a great condition example with some honest field use wear.
