Description

11/2/17 - This is a near-mint Colt 1911A1 from early 1943.  This pistol came from the estate of Gill Cowden from Grand Caine, LA, and comes with photos of him and his crew of the 508th bombing squadron.  The gun is all original and correct with 99% blue remaining.  All parts and features are proper and original, including Colt barrel and all proper proofing.  Slide is numbered and matching to frame. There are no documents that link this gun to Cowden, but the pistol DID come from his family so we think it's important to keep them together, but we are not adding any premium for the photos or story.  Excellent grips and 'L' marked magazine.  Bore is decent but does have some frosting throughout.
