Description
07/01/26 - For sale is an Eddystone Pattern 14 (P14) Rifle chambered in .303 British and used by the British Military during WW1 and into WW2. The rifle is a variation of the Pattern 13 Enfield that was originally planned to replace the Lee Enfield. The start of WW1 shelved the idea for the .276 Enfield cartridge and would instead be chambered in .303 British as the Pattern 14.
The rifle has a nice, smooth matte phosphate finish. The rifle had not undergone the Post-WW1 Weedon repair process, where many stocks were replaced with M1917 stocks, and the volley sights would be removed from the receiver.
This rifle was able to avoid the Weedon repair and still retains the volley sights and potbelly P14 stock. There are also no * stamps on the receiver or bolt to denote the Weedon Repair. The stock is smooth as the surface had been lightly sanded. No cracks or breaks. The bore is bright with strong rifling. The bolt is mismatched, but the rear sight matches the receiver. The bolt is not marked with the Weedon *. Stock, bolt, and receiver are stamped "EY" for Emergency Use, as they became second-line rifles when SMLE production had ramped up for WW1.
