Nice T97 Naval Officer Sword - With Shirasaya and Tsunagi

7/22/26 - This is a very nice example of a T97 Navy Officer's Sword with a handmade blade. The set comes with a Shirasaya (plain wood scabbard and handle) for safe long-term storage of the blade, preventing rust and moisture, while the scabbard, guard, and fittings remain on display on a Tsunagi (Wooden "dummy blade"). There is a hairline crack towards the opening of the Shirasaya on the edge side of the opening. The tang of this blade has a beautiful, dark patina on the tang, which holds the makers signature. While the signature is standard on these handmade blades, there are smaller stamps towards the tip of the tang that are not common on older blades (~1600's). The handmade blade has a beautiful hamon with no signs of any chips along the edge. The spine of the blade does show a hairline crack from the handle to about halfway up the blade. The fittings on this blade are tight, but do show some gaps between the blade and the handle. This T97 set comes complete with a deep purple silk sleeve.
